Erection or Two lieniitiriil nnci Appropriate Monuments. Two of the most beautiful and appropriate monuments >ln Mia Ilnner Lont? Cane cerne tery have been recently erected by Mr. S.J. Zelgler. of Shreveport, La., to the memory respectively of his father, the late M. (J. Zeigler, of this county, and of his sister. Miss Beuie Zeigler. They are ftom the marble yard of Mr. J. IX Chalmers, ot our town, and both in heauty of design and elegance of workmanship, reflect the highest credit upon all concerned. To one entering the eastern gate of the cemetery, they at once attract attention to their beauty of design, harmony of proportion and appropriateness of inscription. The monument to Major Zeigler conslsfs of a marble column, twelve feet high, surmounted by a draped urn, and resting upon a die, and tills again upon two marble bases, the second ot which bears the name of "Zeigler" In raised letters. On the side of the die are the following inscriptions; "Martin Govan Zeigler. Died .Sept. 13th, 18SS. aued 5S." "What I do, thou knowest not now, but thou shalt know hereafter." "God Is his own interpreter. And He will make it plain." The monument of Miss Benle Zeigler repre? sents the broken trunk of a fee lopped of Its C?r?HICIlt?5r, ttUU tfUbWIIIt'U Wltu ferns spring from the base. A scroll hangs from the trunk, with the following Inscriptions: "Bcule, daughter of M. G. und L. A. Zel^ler, died July 12,1891, aged 24." "I know that rny Redeemer liveth." "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Near by, In the same plot, a tasteful monument marks the last resting place of two youthful sisters, who preceded their father and sister to the tomb. No more tasteful nor appropriate monuments are to be found In the cemetery than these, and they add much to the beauty and attractiveness of this cherished home of our loved and honored dead. ? a?
