A Man Willi a Good Conscience
Atoneof his North field meetings on ^
Monday, Mr. Moody, who was preach- \
ing about "Prayer," said: "Man may a
fnay like a saint, but if he has a dollar ?
11 his pocket not acquired honestly,
his prayer is a sham, and he must Imake
restitution if he expects ever to ^
have God hear his prayer." Thereup- \
on a merchant from Dallas, Tex., rose
in the auditnee and told a story that
emphasized this point. He had, he
saia, got dishonestly from men in his ai
business some$5,500, and had built a Al
house with the money. Then Mr.
Moody happened along and preached

merchant was present. "I hoard you,"
he said, pointing to Mr. Moody, "and ?
I went out into the street conscience r
stricken. I went straight home and \\
told my wife thaf we must sell that ihouse
and restore e money. And we L
did. We held an . action, and our car- r.
pets, our laces, our furniture all left us, l
and with the proceeds we made resti- f;
ttition." The man then told how he i
and his wife started again in life with
nothing, and how they had prospered. ?
His credit, his prosperity had never
been so good.?New York Sun.
If sorrow could ever enter heaven, i,
if a sigh could be heard there, or if a L
tear could roll down the cheek of a ^
saint in light, it would be for lost op- l
portunities, for time spent in neglect
of God and duty, which might have ?
been spent for the divine glory. L
