A PICTURESQUE ARAB DANCE.

The Arab quarter (at Port Said) consists r
present of booths and wooden huts, and. tli
bazars possess for experienced travelers littl
interest or picturesqueness. In one of then
however, we found a native cafe, where t\v
Gliawazki girls were languidly dancing befot
the usual audienco of low class Arabs an
negro connoisseurs. One clad in scarlet wa
a novice of no skill; the other?graceful an
clever, with a handsome face of the ol
Egyptian type, worn hard and marked by
life of vice?was prettily dressed in wirt
trou sers of purple and gold, a spangled jackt
and headdress of coins and beads, with
jingling girdle of silver amulets.
Asked if she could perform for us the "ba
anco dance," she consented to exhibit the
well (mown Egyptian pas for the modest coi
sideration of two francs and a bottle of Eng
