Hammond, having received nn anonymous letter, complaining that colored persons had been recently maltreated by unnanvd white persons, mid praying the protection which the law guarantees, Mr. Hammond desires us to Kay that if the persons thus complaining will furnisli proper proof that just punishment will be meted out to nil offenders against t lie ' peace of the town.
