of the same, That a tax lor the sums and in
the manner hereinafter named shall be raised
aud paid into the treasury of the Town Coun-1

of the cash value of all re>?l and personal estate
within the incorporation of the said'l'own
of Abbeville the sum of fifteen cents.
Sec. 2. On each billiard and pool table or
ton pin alley kept for hire the sum of Twentytive
Dollars on the first table or alley and
Twenty-live Dollars for each table or alley
more than one kept by the same owner. On
f-ach bagatelle tabic kept for hire the sum of
Fifteen Dollars.
Sec. -i. For each license to retail spirituous
liquors in the Town of Abbeville the sum of
Two Hundred Dollars for t lie year, beginning
with the first day of January, 1886, and end-'
tng on the first day of January, 1887. The said
sums payable in th/ee equal installments in
advance, said dealer or dealers to give botvd
and security for payment of said sum of money,
and if at any time during the year thesai*t
dealer or dealers should go oui of business the i
whole amount of Two Hundred Dollars shall
immediately become duo and payable, aud (
any person or persons doing business tne |
whole or any part of the yeftr shall pay the
whole sum of Two Hundred Dollars. (
Sec. 4. That all male persons between the
ages of sixteen and fifty years, except those;
physically unable to earn a support, arc liable
to road duty and shall be required to
work on the roads, sidewalks, and streets
within the incorporation of the Town of Ab- j

Town Council. The commutation for said
road duty to be the sum of Two Dollars to be
paid at the time of payment of other'taxes,
to wit, on or before the first day of March.

Sec, 5. That all itinerant auctioneers,
peddlers, and other transient persons, except '
venders of farm produce raised in the County,
offering at retail any goods whatsoever J
for sale, shall pay a license of not more than
Twenty-five Dollars nor less than One Dollar
per day.
Sec. 0. That all circuses shall pay a license
of One Hundred Dollars for each and every
exhibition; and all other shows, including
what are commonly known hs side-shows attached
to a circus, shall pay a license of not
more than Fifty nor less than Two Dollars
for each exhibition.
Sec. 7. That ail returns shall he made under
oath on or before the first day of February,
1xs!5, and all taxes shall be due and payable
on or before the first day of March, l&sli.
If any person or persons shall refuse or neg-j
lect payment of the taxes herein levied within
the time specified the Treasurer of the|
Town Council is hereby authorized and required
to add twenty per centum penalty, and
if the tax with the penalty is nut paid withiiv
thirty days thereafter, it shall be the duty of:
the Treasurer of the Council to issue executions
therefor immediately and collect the '
same by due process of law, as provided in
the charter of said Town of Abbeville..
Sec. x. The Town Council or a quorum
thereof shall cVmstitnte a board of assessors
to aflix the value of property returned for
taxation.
Sec. 0. If any per?onor person? shall refuse
or neglect to make a return of their property
for taxation within the time prescribed herein,
the return of last year with twenty per
centum added shall be deemed and taken by
the Treasurer to be the true value of their
property for taxatiou und it shall be assessed
at that ra'to.
