Speeding on our wny we first came to Ooronaca where we noticed a grist mill and a llourlng mill, two stores, onechurch and au academy. We were informed that Messrs. J. S. and \V\ W. Klugh were having brick made for the purpose of erect!ng a largebrick store at this attractive little place. Coronaca is situated seven miles east of Grenwood und Is surrounded by a line farming country. Another eight miles travel brought us to Waterloo. Soon alter leaving Coronaea we crossed Saluda It Ivor, and just beyond the river,on our right, we passed itose .Monte, where Col..John Cunningham, a prominent lawyer of Charleston. S. <formerly reside J. It was in tills house the founder of the Mount Vernon Society, Miss I'amlla Cunningham (whose name will ever shine as a bright jewel anioniong llio pages of history) lived and died. Waterloo Is a wide awake town situated In a tine section of country, eleven miles south of I,aureus Court House. About twelve months ago it had only one store. Jt now tins nlnestore rooms and six others in course of construction. A handsome brick hotel will soon be completed near the center of the town. ISestdcs its stores andj hotel Waterloo has a blacksmith and carriage shop, a grist and a flouring mill, a saw mill, a planing machine and a shingle machine, it also has one ahui'ch and a gnod school. It is a healthy and desirable place to locate. The water here isexccllent. The Orphanage, under tbo supervision of that most estimable gentleman, Itev. W. I'. Jacobs, is a grand institution. Three substanI tial buildings iinve already been erected at I theOrphaliaee,and another (the McCortnlck House) will bo completed at an early day. Tlie Clinton College is progressing rapidly. It Will be quite nn attractive building when completed. The President, l'rof. W.S. Lee, Is now traveling In the interest of this institution. The Owens JSrothers have nearly completed their two-story concrete store. Mr. .Smith said the 17th of J-Vbruny ,la>t marked the hundroth anniversary of Methodism in .South Carolina. All this proves the outward development and growth of the Methodist church, and it should be evidence of our growth in love for the Author of our being, as well as indicative of intelligent growth In the knowledge of our duty to Hint I and to our fellow man.
