The most attract ive feature of Sale Day was the colt show, which come off In accordance with previous notice. The young anlmv.ls NVere led on the square about twelve o'clock, hud attracted universal attention and great admiration. After standing on the square for a reasonable time, the older of the horse* Mere hitched to vehicle* anil driven up and down main Street to the delight of a great crowd of by stAnder*. Among ttie whole lot there was not a poor colt. They were all of excellent grade, but the horse of Mr. W. J. Donald, we believe elicited the greatest admiration for Its beauty of lorin and gmce of curHue. The colt show was a reallv an evidence of r>fosres* on the part of our people in a line ?>f >u?lness which has been| heretofore too nnich neglected. If we live to see another year, and another colt show, wc hope to see an equAi number of nmle an<l horse colts on the ground. We had uo mule colts here lust Monday. We have done the best wc could in the way of securing a list of all the stock on exhibition. If we can have good seasons frotn now until the maturity of the crop, tho yield will be abundant and satisfactory. ( The barley and rye crops arc so small as to receive hut little attention. Many farmers; seem to prefer to huy their corn out of the; utore* on a credit than to pot themselves to] the trouble of planting these crop*. The area In upland corn Is ueurly double that ol any previous year, and nearly all the i low lands are In a fine state of preparation, and corn has been planted In evory available | ncre of this land. , The farms are better worked than ever he-1 fore at this season. The many excellent horses nnd Jacks , In this county afford excellent opportunity to nil who choose to avail themselves of the ]>roflts arising from colt raising. Yesterday evening her pulse was 52. and her condition was thought to be better than It had been for the lust two days. James Gallllard is in Jail. He claims that the shooting was accidental, but. This would 1 bring all parts all parts of the county In connection with the Court House and would give : all the desired freight and travel facilities we I need. It Is practicable and feasible. The ! name train can make the round trip each ; day.
