Latimer's well last Thursday, over which his gin house was ? recently burned. The burning timbers fell in the well, and Galy was employed to take them out. Neither Galy nor Mr. I/Uirner knew of the danger of going into wells into which burning timbers had fallen, and hence Galy h>*t his life by , coming in contact with tho foul gasses. Galy is the wecond man who lias recently lost hi* life in this county by going "into wells over housos or well-fixtures had been burnt. Quite a stir was created in the circles of high colored society of this place last Thursday ninht by the marriage of Ella Liddell to Mr. Albert Taylor of Augusta, <3a. Mr. Taylor had handsomely printed invitations sent out, both to his marriage and to his reception on tne 8'ind hills of Augusta, and was accompanied by a minister and several friends and we imagine ' had the proverbial corkscrew along, as 110 Augusta man travels without one. Centennial Address. Mr. W. A. Templeton has been selected to prepare the Centennial history of Long Cane church, and will deliver this address next Friday, at Long Cane. It will be interesting to many of us to hear the record of the church of our forefathers, with which many of us are associated, and with which 4ome ot the fondest and saddest memories of our lives are blended. The Augusta Chronicle and Constitutionalist ban issued its sixth Trade Reyiow, the handsomest thing of it^. kind we ever saw, and one, of whose production, they should justly feel proud. It has some beautiful illustrations, and the entire finish and publication makes it a ^ complete gem of a Trade Review. Miss Hertz of the Sunny South graced our office yesterday.
