[ the Press and Banner Wednesday, April 3, 1878 llnve we Bolters nnd Sore Head Ainduc L'g? I " A rumor was floating in our streets ye,s erdav evening that a meeting was t?? b held iast night for the purpose of organ (zing another Democratic elub in on town. For the sake of good Democracy evc hope the rumor was unfounded. Ab fville already has a well organized clui 'hose doors are wide enough and whosi intensions fire ample enough to accom nodate all good Democrats. We need n< ther club hero. There is no limit to th< uembership roll of the club already ii txHtonoe, and its ollicers are men whosi lead all good citizens should be willim jo follow. No deubt we had a secomi rlub here in '7G?a "young men's club;' but the new club spoken of cannot pro jess to be a revival of Club No. 2, for it; ncmbers assisted iU the re-organizatioi pf Club No. 1 this year and one of then wt as a delegate therefrom in the Count} Convention. It cannot be a young men'! Iub, for the club already existing is pre (led over by a young man, and vounj len are represented in it to a prepondcr ing degree. Besides, no public sum ,ons has Jieen given to the young met [ the town?of whom we ourselves are ; wt; and surely if the purposes of the umorcd club are fair and pure, the or ranization should not be kept secret *io advertisement, no placard, no circular o far as we know has been issued calling oung men to the meeting. There are manv objections to the form r i wiv.iL IUMI ui i! xi-vuiuitiuu wen;, t" -J ^.. . f its usolessness. It would ho unfair t< lie county clubs, many of whom outminbor the Abbeville club. Tho seven otc's in the County Convention to whicl: t .would be entitled would give AbbevilU indue influence. Already Abbeville has utUcient weight ami influence in t!u 'ounty Convention, and we are undis>osc?d to favor any movement that would iicrca.se that influence and crowd out and eigh down the influence of the country elegates. If Abbeville have fourteen otes why should not Cokesbury or reenwood or Ninety-Six have fourteen ach? In justice to the other clubs in tho ounty, 110 second club should be formed ere. even ifthe*>UK?r looij plubs were rilling to ifivo the Court House so great n advantage. We sec no good reason fera new club. ndoniv one reason?explanatory u u<n ood?sus?ijests itself. If we ha<l bolters nd aorehends atnon us, ?re could aeount for such a movement. There arc len, who, disappointed hut ambious, consider as Satan did tlwt it is "l?etJr to rci^n in hoi 1 titan to serve in heavn," and who for sweotofliise' sake would >rtna new camp?a new Cjive of Adulitn.
