The treatises nd speeches of the Georgia Statesman, certainly furnish ample indication of his position with cgard to this great principle. mmense Loss to the Cotton Planter Our exchanges arc still discussing he serious loss which has befallen lie cotton planter this 3*car by the arly sale of their cotton?estimated ty a Liverpool cotton factor at S10,K)0,000 and by the New York Eve ting Post at the enormous sum of 27,100,000. This sum has been taken rom the hardearningsof tho planter, md turned over to swell the profits if tho speculator. It has all resulted rom cotton articles in loading flnr.n:ial journals, furnishing excessive es[mates of the crop; tho effect of vhich has been to depress tho pricc ?f the staple, and thus play into the lands of the cotton speculator. The 'oily in making the estimates consists n basing them upon the early receipt; )f the staple, which furnish no pro )er measure of the largeness of tin :rop. Thus the receipts of tho pres ;nt season from September to Janua y were largely in cxccks of prccc ling years. The receipts for Janua y and February tell the correct tale md give a falling oIt* this year o; 1GO,000 from that of ihe same month; n 1870-71.
