ing arrived, the Ixstructor opened tin
meeting with a few very appropriati
remarks on the practical effects oi
Adoptive Masonry, after which he pro
cceded to confer the beautiful ana in
structive Degree of the Eastern* Staii
upon quite a number of the ladies am]
gentlemen, which, to say the least of it,
was done with honor to himself and the
Fraternity, and was sublime beyond
conception.
At the close of these ceremonies, and
by request of many of the Brethren and
fcSisters, the Instructor conferred the
Degree of Secret Reliance on those who
had not previously received it. The
ceremonies were then closed with music
by Miss Lizxie" Sitton, and singing of
the Odes by the company.
The "wee sixia' hours" being near at
hand, and each one being highly grati
lled with the exercises of the evening, it
was deemed prudent to seek Nature's
sweet restorer, balmy sleep, and accord
ingly the company retired, with many
thanks to Mrs. 1?. and son for their kind
hospitality.

of Tax Payers at the close of the As

disagreeable errors, and give to die Tax
Payers and Assessors a great deal of un
necessary trouble.
