Tin topography of the country guarantee this assertion ; then, why delay ? Pecuniarily considered, this rout would open a rich belt of country uu equalled in the Stato. In fact, we be lieve tho property holders on this rout* are prospering more rapjdly than any where else in the Stfttp., . Again, this route steers clear of anj competition, and embraces a scope o country, on either side, from thirty t< fifty miles, without any railroad facili ties. Indulge us in other observations, viz When this road is tin if lied to Greenwood then the people of Luuretis will havcai outlet for their produce, without beinj forced to tspll in the upper markets, o ship tlie same over the Greenville an( Columbia Railroad. j If the people from Greenwood to Lau j rens will bestir themselves as ought t< become them, an extension of the roa< | to Laurens and Spartanburg would carrj a market to every door, and put life an< j money in a buried country and emptj I pocket?. This would connect. August' with the Air Line Road, and give tin traveling public the advantages of j more pleasant unci IcSh expensive routi North. We assert, without fear of eon tradiction, that a road from Spartanburg through Laurens, by way of Greenwoui to Augusta, would realize a more hand I Some profit on the money invested, thai 1 aHW\h ctinnntdtmil ] OU Y UHIUi VUVi WI opvviumivm Finally, so far us the people of Abbe | ville and Edgefield are concerned, wi intend to have a railroad from Green wood to Augusta, and will proceed a once to the work.
