The registration report of the Slate of Massachusetts for the j*ear 18G9' gives some curious marriage statistics, j i'rom which impatient youths and ' desolate old .maids and bachelors may j both take heart. During the year J seven maidens were married at the: age of fourteen, and no fewer than!' fort}*-onc at the comparatively nia-j turo* ago of fifteen. The fads are not so veht'uresomo as the girls, the youngest husband having wedded at sixteen a wife of the same age. On 'the other hand, an old maid of seven-' ty-eight found a husband, and fou j other womeu were married after they j: had passed the age of seventy. One j man of thirty-two was married, fori tlie sixth time, to a maiden of thirty; r also another man, lor the sixth time, 'to a widow of-sixtv-two. it hoin.r ln>rl second marriage. The oldest parlies j( married for the first time wero the j w male and female sixty each. Tie greatest disparity in tlie first ^ marriage was the male sixty-seven if and the female twenty. Forty-five j1 males were married during the year, p who were over severity, and one wid- < ower of eight}" was united for the se- 1 cond time to a widow of fifty-four, it * being also her second marriage. A f( widower of thirty was married for 1 the'second time to a young widow of;( twenty, it being her fourth marriage! ' But one marriage is reported where y both parties were married for the fourth time each, .their ages being sevens-three and sixty-two. There wasj] also ono marriage, the male being L seventy-three, his fourth marriage, toll, a widow of fifty-seven, her third marriage. ne male of twenty-nine was united to a widow of thirty, it'being his first and her fourth. A widower of fifty-six was united to a widow of fifty-two, it being her fifth marriage. I The sixth marriage of a male is re-it ported at the age of thirty-two to ail spinster of thirty. A second mar- f; riagoof a man of fifty-six is reported to a female of fifty-two, it being her v fifih venture. - ^ ? - *> . 1< The Stockholders' Meeting. This is as it should be; for without the patronage of those of our own country, what would any business or profession do for a support? I do not think that any one should make any sacrilice to patronize those in their own country, but I do say that in all cases where you can do as well, or better, it is ri?-ht to expect the patronage of those amongst whom you live.
