W e stated in a recent issue that the
Salvation Army was a curiosity. An
exchange adds: “So was the blessed
Saviour to some people who saw Him,
but did not beleive in Him-” We are
glad that our brother entertains such
an exaulted opinion of the Salvation
Army, but must confess, that brass
bands, tamborines, and clowns, is not
our idea of religion.

Eighteen months ago William Chap
man of New London, was in a house
that was struck by lightning, and w is
severely shocked. Every since he has
been able to predect a coming thund
er storm with great certainty from
certain psins that he feels in his heel
some hours before the storm.
The Aroleson Journal says that Mr.
J. S. Fowler, of Anderson, had a big
egg trad# a few days since, taking two
hundred dozen in part pay for a mule.
A joker told an old colored man in
Raleigh that the North Carolina Legis
lature was about to pass a law making
it right for a man to sell his wife
The old man doubted, and asked anoth
er citizen, who, to see the effect, inti
mated that the report was true. The old
darkey looked down a moment, scratch
ed his head, and then said. “well, sir,
ef dat gits to be er law, my wife—she
go on de block, sho.”
