HARRINGTON, C. C. P. - - u ? - JOttJT BASCOMBE. THIS renowned and ever memorable HORSE will occupy his old stand at the Hampton Course, in the vicinity of Augusta, under my direc tion. Col Crowell, his owner, after returning from his tour through the north, east and west, has come to the conclusion to allow him to remain with me another season Applications were made in various sections of our country; unlimited business was guarantied ; large sums offered by various gentlemen for the service of the horse ; but Col. Crowel threw aside all minor considerations, all pecuniary motiv es, when on his return he found so many solicitations, from various quarters of the south, to allow the horse to remain with me, that he at length yielded and gratified their wishes- In fart Baseombe has so many warm admirers that they nearly view him as their common properly. Baseombe has attained his end in one point, he has put to rest all those little, petty slanders, relative to impoteiicy , as he has proven himself as sure a fo d-getter as any horse that stands on four feet. His first get was dropped this season ; each and every persons colt, in different parts of the south, i?-the crack and brag colt ; in fact, for game like appearance, quickness of action, spright-liness and playfulness, unsurpassed. He will commence his season on the 15th of Feb ruary neit ? to terminate on the 13th of July T erms, $ 100 the season, and $ 1 to the groom. ? Good lots, fine stables, pastures, and provender, will be provided for the mares; no liability for escapes or accidents. Persons sending mares are particularly requested to send their p* igree, also, notes made payable to John Crowell or bearer ; the expenses of the mares to be paid before taking thein awav. Mares remaining with the Horse, will be well taken care of at 50 cents per day ? Servants with them, fed gra i tis. It is useless to mention pedigree and performances; Bascombe's speak for themselves; the world know them ; his name will be handed down from .Turfite to Turfi e; and when no more, the bosoms of future sportsmen will swell with emotion and delight, when they hear mentioned the name of Baseombe. THE united testimony of Physicians, throughout the United States, has fully proved the FACT that PETERS'S VEGETABLE PILLS are the only true Vegetable Pills , which will stand the test of An ahzatton?heme the proprietor would most earnest ly urge them to the notice of those who have been in the habit of using as CATHARTICS or APERI ENTS, the destructive and irritating QUACK PILLS, so generally advertised, and which are at best but slow consumers of the vital functions and MURDEROUS agents, even to the most hale. It is true, most of them produce a purgative effect, and some;ime8 transient relief, but in most cases they injure the digestive organs, and an habitual resort to tbem must terminate in confirmed dyspepsia. IT IS TRUE, that Cathartic and Aperient Medi cines are often required, but the nicest discrimina tion ah?uid always he observed in the selection, and if this be done nothing injurious can result from their use. ? - *To produce this much desired result, Dr. Peters has made it his study for several years, and feels proud to say he has at length succeeded, far beyond his expectations. Merchants ordering these Pills from the proprietor, or New York Druggists, on time, will be charged Four l^ollars per dozen. The proprietor requests particular attention to this advertisement, as the immensely increasing demand for his Pills, makes it necessary that his business operations should be conducted without any of the logs of time which would result from a variety of pri ces. The proprietor would have it further understood, that this arrangement is for New York dealers, as well as those who residein other places. August 25. 35 Committed TO the jail of Richland District, as a runaway, a negro man who call^his name HARDTIMES, and says he belongs to William Wragg Smith, of Charleston, S. C. and that he ranaway from his mas ter's plantation, ??n Ashley river, about 20 miles from Charleston. Hardtimes is about 25 yeffrs of age, dark complexion, 5 feet 8 inches high, well mader white teeth, wears whiskers ? has a small scar on the inside of his right wrist, from a burn ? no other marks or scars visible.
