r Columbia Female Academy.
THE following regulations have been recently
adopted by the Trustees of this Institution.
1. The schoiastic year shall hereafter be divided
into two sessions ; the one to commence on the first
Monday in October and terminate the last day of
j February ; the other to commence on the 1st day of
March, and end the 3 1st day of July.
I 2. At the end of the summer session there shall be
i a vacation of two months, embracing the months of
August and September.
3. The Board and Tuition will hereafter be charged
by the session, one half payable in advance, the resi
due at any time during the session.
4. No pupil shall be received for less than a ses
sion or the unexpired residuum thereof.
5. The price of board, including lodging, washing,
fuel and candles, shall be S100 a session.
6. The price of tuition shall be at the following
rates per session :
For the lower branches of English, including
Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Orthogra

branches of English, including Geography

whose moral worth is equal to his professional skill
lie is expected to arrive in Columbia about the 15ih
of October, and in addition to his services at the
Academy, will open a school in the town for the
benefit of the citizens generally.
The next session will commence on Monday next,
the 3d. of October. There is a prospect of obtain
ing shortly a male assistant of high qualifications.
Tue patrons of the Academy may rely on the
unwe iried exertions of the undersigned to render
the course of instruction as useful and comprehen
sive as at any institution in our country.

TO take charge of the MonticeQo Academy in
Fairfield district : one well qualified to prepare
students for the So. Carolina College and of good
moral character will meet with liberal encourage
ment, especially if he will prepare himself to board
a portion of the students, as it is probable that the
only difficulty in the attainment of a large school
will be found to exist in the want of the facility of
Boarding.
This Academy is large, commodious, and has're
cently undergone a thorough repair, ? has four fire
places, and is convenient to a spring of the purest
water. Tt is beatifully located in a healthy and de
lightful-section of country ? in the midst of a com
munity characterized by a high degree of morality,
intelligence, and refinement.

The Committee on Public Buildings submitted reports on the petitions of J.
Douglass, Commissioners of Public Buildings of York District, and on the Memo
rial of the Apprentices Library Society of Charleston.
The Committee on Finance submitted reports on the petitions of H. L. Brun
son, W. Wingate, and on a Resolution to Report on a Resolution of December
15th, 1834.
The Committee on Internal Improvements submitted Reports on the petitions [
of sundry citizens of Williamsburgh, the Camden and Charleston Steamboat

No. 3, were taken up, and laid on the table.
A Bill to transfer the jurisdiction of the Court of Ordinary to the Court of

A Bill in relation to the election of Sheriffs Clerks, were taken up, and post
poned to the first of January.

horses lost in the late Seminole war, which was refened to the Committee ou

Mr. McDowell, from the Committee on Accounts, made a Report on the Re

The Resolution from the Senate to. adjourn this Legislature on the 20th was
amended by striking out 20th and inserting 21st, and in this form concurred in.
Mr. Phillips, from the Committee on Internal Improvements, made a Report
on the Petition of the Charleston and Camden Steam Boat Company, and -
Mr. Frost from the same Committee, made a Report on that part of the Gov
ernor's Message on the subject of making an appropriation for, the Charleston
and Cincinnati Rail Road Company, which were ordered for consideration to
morrow.
The Solicitor of the Western Circuit obtained leave of absence for the remainder
of the Session.
Mr. Laborde was added to the Special Committee on the College. '
The Senate attended 4$nd joined the House in a ballot for Commissioner and
Register in Equity for Kershaw. -

have had the same under consideration, and recommend to the House the rejection

Resolved, That all Appeals from the Courts of Law, shall te heard and deter,
mined in a Court of Appeals, consisting of all the law Judges: and that all appeals
in Equity, shall be heard and determined in a Court of Appeals, consisting of all
tho chancellors. That the said Courts of Appeal shall meet at the same time, and be

That in all questions of Law, as distinguished from Equity, the Court of Chan
cery shall follow the decision of the Court of Law. #
That upon all Constitutional questions, arising oflt of the Comtitation of this
State, or of the United States, an appeal shall lie to the whole of tbe Judges in a

Bench, upon all questions, upon which either of the Courts of Appeal shall be divi
