Regiment S. O. M., into Companies, in j
accordance with General Orders Nos. 20, '
21 and 22, issued from this Office, and it
being necessary to have a more accurate
enrollment of persons belonging to said
Regiment and liable to military duly and
to draft under said Orders, it is hereby
ordered : *
I. That all male persona in the City of
Charleston between the ages of sixteen
and sixty years, i xccpt such persons as
have been regularly mustered into Confederate
service, be immediately enrolled.
II. This enrollment will include persons
who are on duty in the Regular or Volunteer
Militia organizations of the City, as
well lis those who are not, and also persons
who arc absent from, but are citizens of
Charleston?temporary absence not to be
egardc-d as a change of residenco.
III. Absentees who claim that they are '
not liable to military service in tl.e city '<
will be required to produce at this Office j
certificates from the Commanding Officers j
of the Regiments in which they claim j
that Uiey are liable to such service, and if
between the ages of forty and fifty years. !

Ora, the Charleston correspondent of
the Mobile Tribune gives the following
account oi a visit to tho batteries around

At 9 o'clock last night [ accompanied
(Jon. Kiploy in his barge, in eg in pony
with Captain IIoss, of the Austrian army,
to Diukc an inspection of the forts. Wo
first visited Sumter, thrae and a half mile*
from the city, and found the garrison actively
employed in protecting the walls by

fort being six feet thick, thus making an
obstruction of Lrick and panel of twentysix
