adopted by the Democracy of Philadelphia prior to

Republicanism, I'acker was the choice of the F ?emocracy,

tires. The result in figures is not definitely known,
but suffice it to say, that tlio friends of Gen. Packer
claim the result in his favor by a plurality ol forty
thousand?beating both the opposition candidates I
