In the midst of life we are ill death! For the
first time, it is oar painful duly to announce the
death of oar friend and fellow-student F. 1). Lvtlk,
wIk? departed this life October 2, 1857. But however
painful it may be, we must willingly yield to
tha mysterious works of an A Murine and Supreme
Being.
Although in possession of a bright, clear, and noble
mind, and ever ready to perforin an act of benevolence,
he is gone-?gone to the realm - of eternal
bliae?gone to associate with angels. As n student,
he was both persevering and kind, never permitting
his mind to be allured to any extent by
earthly enticements. He possessed that kindness
of heart and delicacy of feeling which made liitn
study the wants and anticipate thu wishes of nil ho
knew. All these have faded, hut why should wc
grieveT Instead of murmuring against (.Sod, wc
must rejoicingly say, "Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in Heaven." Wipe away the tears that
trickle down your cheeks, and remain contented by
knowing that be lias been removed from a world
of trouble, toil, sin, and disappointment, to enjoy
the pleasures of a heavenly home?a home not made
with bands, eternal in the 1 leavens.

near Van Patten's Shoals, Sept. 18. 1857, Mr?,
SARAH ANN, wife of N. V. Vak Pattkm, of
dropsy, aged 37 years and 6 mouths. Also her two
infant sons died shortly alter, one aged 10, and the
other 12 days.
She was nn orderly and consistent member of
tkeTiaplist Church at Cedar Grove, at the time of
her death nod hud been seveial years. She died
