Southern gentleman in Kaunas that indicated a / od
timo a-coming for that lately distracted Territory.
This gentleman says that polities ?ro almost
forgotten in the rush of enterprise which has nt
length siised upon the people. All are busy nt the
game of money-making, anil thin great peace-maker
is obliterating those destiitclious which heretofare
made that distant land a scene of rude commotion.
Wc think this is both well and right. A j
people may ho homogeneous in industry, and prudent
of private interests, without sacrifice of prinvipte
or d< sertiou of a good cause. To our minds
strife is the host possible wsy to damage a cause
good in itself, lift the Southern party in the Territory
