To Prevent the Banning at Large '
of Goats and Swine.
8iCTto* 1. Be it Ordained by the Mayor
and Aldermen of tho City of Greenville, in
Council assembled, and by the authority of
the ammo: That from and after the flrat day
of May next, ell Goats and Swine found run
niug at large in the Streeta of the City, ehall
be forthwith impounded in a aaitahle place by,
the Policcmeo of the City, and there kept for
Are days,or until the owner thereof ehall enn.o
and pay a flne of Ffty Cents on each bead so
impounded, together with all necessary charges
for maintenance ; and if at the expiration
ot five days said Goats or Swine remain uni
claimed, the Policemen shall then, after giving
five days' publio notice of the Same, sell
them to the highest bidder at public outery ;
Providrd, That whenever any animal so impounded
shnll be found to bo the property of a
non-resident of the City, he or they may bare
[ the tame released on the payment <if -tho necessary
charges for maintenance while in the
[ pound; and tho Policemen are hereby ink
structed to use proper diligence to inform the
f owners of Coats and Swine (when such own|
ersbip is known) of the impounding of tbeir
l animals. AU moneys eolleotcd from the above
sources to he deposited in tho public treasury,
for the use and benefit of the City.
