A Valuable Invention by a Southern
Ladv. , ,
We bare had tho pleasure of examining
? The Queen of Charts, a system for cuttlog by
measure names uarmenis 01 an siyios, an
invention of Mrs. Dr. Millvci, of Greenwoot!,
8. 0. Tho Chart ia in the shape of a
dress body, tnado of hoavy paste-board, and is
markod with letters and figures in saeh manner
aa to render tho ose of the invention easily
acquired. With its aid any person can
gain a perfect fit to any form or sicej and its
ready adaptability to cut any style a lady may
desiro. we doubt has ever been equalled.?
When understood, tho person using will find
no difficulty in obviating the mis-fits, so common
; with it, patterns are not needed. There
are two Charts, one for cutting ladies garments
and the other for boys and girls. These have
been tested by several ladies of Qrcenville, and
they nnite in praise of thoir great value and
utility and completeness, and consummate sue*
coss, for the purposes intended. Accompanying
the Charts are printed instructions for
their uso in cutting any article needed. They
nro truly ingenious and mathematical inventions,
and investigation would excite interest
Mr. Ira C. Williams is tho agent for tho
County of Greenville, and will take pleasuro
in exhibiting them to all so desiring. Even if
they are not prepared to purchase, it would
repay the ladies of our City to look at and examine
them. Mrs. T. C. Gowkr, Mrs. Petkr
A. McDavid, besides other ladies, are now
using them, and regard them as invaluable,
and will give information and instruction to
all making inquiry.
Mr. Williams will soon be permanently located
in Greenville, when ha will be prepared
to fill all orders.

An Old Renident Returning
Not only are new citizens coming to
Greenville, but soroe wlio formerly lived
here and carried on bu?inea?, are returning.
Thia last is aa gratifying as to see new face*.
The older citizens of Greenville well re-,

garments and superior workmanship, who
lived amongst us twenty years ago. During
that period of absence, he has lived at
Wiiliamston, Belton and other places, and
ia now ioduced, in consequence of the
bright prospects of Greenville to return. He
is adveiUsing for hands in this week's En
