" Tho array of baauty and attractiveness on this occasion was one of which tho ' mountain city' might well bo pround, and the gentlemen of the Club have reason to congratulate themselves for the success of the party. " The people of Greenville aro much elated with the prospective greatness of tho city, and look forward with pride to the completion of the Air-Line. Railroad. New stores are going np in Tarlous portions of the city; the Court House is being overhauled, and much improved ; new streets arw being opened ; the now bridge across the river, which adds so much to the city, has been completed ; the handsome and commodious new brick church which the Methodists are building is in an advanced state of completion : various new nrlvatn ?>i. dances are io process of construction, while many of the old dwellings aro being romodoled and made to look like new ; the printing offices are prosperous, and a daily paper is already talked of. The Seawood Tonio and Mandrake Pills are the first two weapona with which the citadel of the malady is assailed. Two-thirds of the CAses of consumption originate in dyspepsia and a functionally disordered liver. With this condition the bronchial tubes "sympathise" I with the stomach. They respond to the uiorj, biflo action of the liver, llere then comes the culminating result, and the setting iq, with all ita distressing symptoms, of CONSUMPTION. The Mandrake Pills are composed of one o Nature's noblest gifts?the Pidopbillium Peltatum. They posaors ell the blood-searcbing, __ alterative properties o? calomel, but unlike calomel, they "LEAVE NO STING BEHIND." ) The work of cure la now beginning. The vitiated and mucous deposits in the bowels and in the alimentary canal are qjscted. The liver, like a clock, U wound up. It arouses from its torpidity. The stomach nets responaively, and the patient begins to fool that bo is getting, at last, A SUPPLY OP GOOD BLOOD. The Seawood Tonic, in conjuncticn with the p Pills, permeates and assimilates with the food. Chylifioation is now progressing without its previous tortures. Digestion becomes painless, s and the cure is seen to be at band. There is i uo more flatulence, no exacerbation of the sto. mach. An appetite sets in. Now comes tho greatest Blood Purifier ever yet given by an iadnlgent father to suffering man. Schenck's Pulmonis Syrup comes In to perform its functions and to hasten and eom, plcto the cure. It enters at once t-pon its . work. Nsture cannot be cheated. It eollects 0 and ripens the impaired and diseased portions of the lungs. In the form of gatherings, it B prepares tbem for expectoration, and lo ! iu a j very short time the malady Is vanquished, the , rotten throne that it ocoupicd is renovated and ) made new, and the patient, in all the dignity of regained vigor, Steps forth to enjoy the manhood or tho womanhood that was. GIVEN UP AS LOST. ? The second thing is, the patients roust stay 1 in a warm room until they get well; it is nl? most impossible to prevent taking cold when the lungs are diseased, but it m * he preven1 ted or a euro cannot he effected. Fresh air and riding cut, especially in this section of the country in the fall and winter season, are all wrong. Physicians wbe recommend that course loss their patients, if thsir lungs are badly diseased, and yet, because they are in the house they must not sit down quiet; they must walk about the room as much and as fast as the strength will hear, to get up a good elr culutiun of blood. The patients must keep in good spirits?be determined to get well. This has a great dial to dn with tho appetite, and is the great point to gain. To despair of euro after such eviJcnco of its puBBioiuiy in iue wotbi cases, ana moral certainty in all otbert, is ainftit. Dr. Scbenck's personal statement to the Faculty of bis own cure was in thcso modest words : . " Many years ago I was in the last stages of 1 consumption ; confined to my bed, and at one timo my physicians thought that I could not live a week ; then, like a drowning man catching at straws, I heard of and ohtnined the prej pnrations which I now cfier to the public, and e they made a perfect cure of me. It seemed to 9 me that I could feel them penetrate my whole system. They soon ripened the matter in my lungs, and I would spit up more than a pint * of offensive yellow matter every morning for a long time. As soon as that began to subside, my congh, * fever, pain and night sweats all began to j leave mo, and my nppetite became so great that it was with difficulty that I could keep from eating too much. I soon gained my strength, and liavo grown in flesh ever since." I " I was weighed shortly after my recovery," added the Doctor," then looking like a mere skeleton ; my weight was only ninety-seven pounds; my present weight is two hundred - and twenty-five [225] pounds, and for years I heve enjoyed uninterrupted health." Dr. Schenck has discontinued his profesr sional visits to New York and Boston, lie or 1 his son, Dr. J. II. Schcnck, Jr., still continue ? to see patients at their office, No. 15 North Sixth '' itreet, Philadelphia, every Saturday from 9 K A. M. to 3 P. M. Those who wish a thorough r examination with tho Kcspirometcr will be K charged $5. The Kcspirometcr declares the exact condition of the lungs, and patients can ? readily learn whether they are curable or not. * The directions for taking the medicines are 0 adapted to the intelligence even of a child. * Follow these directions, and kind Nature will do the rest, excepting that in some cases the J Mandrake Pills are to be taken in increased '* doses; tho three medicines need no other ae companiments thnn the nmple instructions that accompany them : First create appetite. Of - returning health hunger is the most welcome symptom. When it comes, as it will Come, let the despairing at or?e be of good cboer. Good - blood at once follows, the cough loosens, the - night sweat is abated. In a short timo both e of theso morbid symptoms are gone forever. |. Dr. 8chenck's medicines are constantly kept e in tens of thousands of families. At a laxan tive or purgative, tho Mandrake Pills are a a standard preparation ; while the Puliuonio 1 Syrup as a curer of coughs and colds, may be j regarded as a propbyluctcric against consumption in any of its forms. Price of tho Pulmonic Syrup and Seaweed Tonic, $1.50 a bottlo, or $7.60 a half dozen. Mandrake Pills, 26 cento o box. For sole by all druggists and dealers. Wholnaal..
