of Representatives of Missouri have
made a long Report, concluding
with Solemn Public Jlctf on
the subject of her incorporation into
the Union. The Act set out with
a Preamble, which avows that* Mis

laralion desired by Congress is unne
cessary. It protests too tigainst the

market, it Was washed in about two quarts>

dish, and set away in a wire safe, in a cool
situation, covered with a clean towel that
bad been steeped in the salt And water, be
fore the Washing Operation cottinichted. ?

was waahed a second time in fresh salt and
water as before, placed in the Safe, but
not coveted With a towel ; the thiid -and
fourth day it* was treated exactly in the
wmeway, aflcf it was found perfectly sweet
and good, without any sensible tarfk: of
salt. Had the same treatment been ton
tinned for onti week, I have little doubt
but it would produce the same effect ; and
I see no reason w"hy this treatment should
not be alike successful ii? preserving heel,
mutton and lamb* If so, the experiment
