The ships Manhattan, and Im
porter, both arrived here ort Satur
day, from Liverpool. The former
sailed on the 17th and the latter on
the evening of the iDth of April,
to which date the editoVs of the Mer

Lists to the 17th inclusive.
Accounts from Rome, of tire 27th
of March, announce that the kins;
of Naples "hud entered his capital
?Tin ids t the general acclamations of
his subjects." Letters datecMii the
evening of the 26th ult. ail agree in
the singular fact, that the Austtians
were received with a considerable
degree of enthusiasm by the popu
lace. Out of 150.000 men who had
been embodied to resist the Austrian
invasion, they had all, with tins ex
ception of about 12,000, deserted,
disbanded, ^or returned to their -o wit
homes, without having made any
-other show of warfare ^han- the affair

arffls Were composed of the king's
guards, wlio were attached to the
royal cause, and the garrisons of
some places that had not seen the
face of the enemy. Of the Austrian
troops, 40,000 were to remain in
Naples, and the ' remainder to be
stationed in the different -fortresses.
Twenty-four, members of the provi-"

The Provincial Junta of Turin

of April, an estaffette arrived from
Turin, w ith the following letter to
^the geveinior ?of Savoy, - copies of
which were immediately affixed, by
his order, in different parts of the
city : ? " The number of rebels were
5,000. Yesterday, (the 8th,) the
Austrians entered the Piedmontese
territory, and encountered the rebels
in front of No\ara. A single regi
ment 'of Hulaiis proved sufficient to
disperse this trooj^ which appears
to haVe been wicapaMe of inakingjv
stand, wfiicfc perfectly exposes the
state of anarchy that subsisted among
them. I11 one hour the citadel of
Turin will be evacuated ; the Junta
is dissolved, and every thing announ*
ces that in three days the royal au
thority will be re-established in the
whole of Piedmont, as it has been
preserved in Savoy/'
The Austrian government has
taken precautionary measures to main
tain tranquillity in the Tyrol, where
it is suspected some dangerous asso
ciations exist. The governor of
?ttflif Province* ? Count tie Choteck,
has already published m\ ordinance
At lnspruck, according to which ail
Austrian subjects convicted oT being
admitted into, or maintain^ corres

come to their knowledge, will be
capitally punished, as guilty of high

The public attention is now sud

the Greeks has spYead through Wal

Austria and ltussia have professed'
not to interfere, an Austrian army of1
observation is proceeding to the Tur*
