for a convention, there was found to
be a majority of 886 in the negative,
and of coursc, Republican Rhode
Island is still to be governed by a
royal charter.

York, before Chief Justice Hpencer.
It was a breach of promise of mar
riage. The defendant was proved
to be worth <J00 dollars, and (he jury
took the whole of it for the poor girl,
'v ho hiad been so shamefully desert
ed after two years courtship.
