Sickness having again deprived us of
the assistance of two of our workmen, we
are compelled to issue this number oi our
[paper on a half sheet.
Whilst almost all parts of our
count! y were suffering with disease,
Columbia remained quite healthy,
until within the last fortnight. ?
Within this period, it has become
more sickly ihan usual. The num
ber of cases of fever have heeo con
siderably encr eased, and, -as y*et,
ac ..perceive -but little abatement. ?
>< learn, however, from the phy si
cians, that the fevers nave very gen
erally been of a mild character, hoi
remittents, ami intermittent^, and
vith good nurses and attendants,
it have been very manageable. The
mortality of the last week, it is true,
considerably exceeds the ordinary
mortality of this town; but it must
<e remarked that it has fiUlen, almost
exclusively, on strangers and tran
-detrt persons, of whom we v have,
\ present, a considerable proportion,
;m d many of whom are necessarily
destitute of those attendants and
comforts so essential in violent illness.

and made payable to James Johnsor. (or
order;) also sundry Receipts and Beef
Accounts, a gold Breast Fin marked with
the letter, M. The above Pocket Book,
containing the said money, notes, accounts,
receipts and breast pin, was lost either in
Camden, or on the road leading to the
Swift Creek mills, as the papers will be of
no service, to any other (person, than tho
subscriber, he earnestly hopes that if any
person has the same, they would return
them, or give information so that he might
obtain the same ; and all persons are here
by cautioned not to trade or ncgociate for
the said Notes, Accounts and Receipts.
