At the last session of 1he legisla
ture of Indiana, a law was passed,'
directing that any person (travellers
excepted) wearing any dirk, pistol,
ft word in cane, or any other unlaw
ful weapon, concealed, shall be
deemed guilty, of a misdemeanor,
and, on conviction thereof by pre
sentment or indicttnent, shall be fined
in any sum not exceeding one hun
dred dollars, for the use of country
seminaries. ;

Banks of Marie have been found in
the neighbor hood of Petersburg. ?
We have not yet beard of the result
of any experiment in the use of it as
a manure. No doubt its virtues will

Death . ? A person named Wood
njflF, lately died in NeW-York. He
was much given to intoxication. He
was sick, but told his friends that an
angel had appeared to him, and di
rected hira to remain beastly drunk
lor nine days, when he should get
well. So he bought a barrel of whis
key, and drank a gallon per day for
the limited number of days, without
eating any thing, and then he was
in such a weak state lhat he could
not take any nourishment, and died.

who was in custody of the Sheriff of Ker
shaw District, . under charge of lelony.
And wtiereas it is necessary that those who
violate the Laws should be brought to jus
tice ? Now, therefore, I deem it proper, to
issue this, wy Proclamation, calling on ail
officers, civil and military, and on all the
good people of this State, to be active and
vigilent in the apprehension of the said of
fender. And I do hereby offer a reward ol

person or persons who shall apprehend and

high, rather slender in his appearance,
being tolerably lean, is a little bowlegged,
out mouthed, Urge white eyes, rather pro
jecting than otherwise, a forward inclining
back, and generally assuming in tits man
ner. He had when be left me, many arti
cles of good Clothing, a Rir Hat, a black
Broad Cloth Coat? also a blue one that was
