lately arrived at St, l.ouis from Vir
ginia, to his friend in Richmond.

rived in town. Not lone; after my
arrival, a battle occurred between
two brethren of the tyj>e, (he prin

'None written abroad for us can ever

ter. Our story will never be ade
quately told except by one of our
selves ; by an American of com pre
hensive studies, indefatigable indus
try, patriotic enthusiasm, and high
literary ambition; v\ho shall consid
er the task as the business i f his life.
