? From the *4ugu$ta Adx rrtucr,
It is understood that au arrange
ment is made for enlarging and beau
tifying the Theatre in this place,
under the direction and superinten
dence of Mr. J. K- M. Chaklton
and Mr. C'hahlks \oung. The
latter gentleman has been the acting;
manager of (he company whose re
gular entertainments closed on Mon
day evening last. Tlie places at pre
fceut contemplated for the future ser
\iccs of the gentlemen who are or
may be included in this arrangement1,
are Columbia, Camden, Milledge
\ilte and this city. The lovers of
the drama may calculate on a rich
repast, as the talents of the former
gentleman, and experience of the
latter, added to the collective exer
tions of both, warrant the anticipa
tion : ? and in due reciprocity to their
respective merits, the admirers of
Histrionic amusements will fondly
wish them a golden harvest for their
labors. The season of performance
to,commence, probably, iu the month
of October next. X.
We understand, that Silver Thb
lars aig imported into the United
States ^fr??p England. Three ves
sels have recently brought in greater
or less quantities. It is said, that
iti London they cost 59 i-td per ounce
? requal to 51 1-Sd per dollar ? Md
or 4s 6d being the par, the dollars
are consequently 3 ppr cent under
par. The influx of silver from Jhe
continent into England haq been con
siderable; as beftiga jnore. favora
ble remittance than biHs of exchange.
Dollars from South America have
also been imported into England in
large quantities At Bueoos Ayres
it is said they are worth onfly 4s stea
ling. In consequence of (hie influx
iut ii England, we have heard it ac
counted tor, thai dollars tire so far
below par as to afford a; profit on im
portation iuto this country. We may:
therefore expect to sec. more of them
brouglft in. This is. not the only re
markable circumstance of these times.
Business is so stagnant, tiiat we hear
of much idle capital afloat. Persons;
vtoulti'wiMlng borftf* it to pay their*
debts $ but the . want of confidence!
operates as a serious impediment he- j
tween those who have it and . those;
who want it. Many of -the Banks, j
who are solicitous to lend, cannot al-;
ways get paper to their liking. Priv# i
ate capitalists in some of the northern
towns are said to he willing to loan
on undoubted security at 5 or 6 pwl
cent. The public 6 per cents com
mand from 3 to 0 per cent above par.
The government are authorized by
the lat? three million loan bill to take
the loa# at 6 per cent if redeemable at
the pleasure of the government: if no,
at 5 per cent, irredeemable before the
year 1882. If they prefer the latter
alternative, they will no doubt suo
ceed in negotiating the loan. These
are a 1 together anomalous events u?
the history of our country.

It is a complete remedy against sourness

weakness of .he stomach, it is very useful ;
gradually restoring the appetite, and with
it the tone of that organ-it is a preventative
of many of the diseases of the stomach and

for the same reason it often removes and
prevents the sick headache. As a pallia*
