JOHN, says he belongs to a Mr Yancey,
a nrgro speculator, lately purchased from
a man by the name of Pitts, living in the
State of Virginia. Said negro appears to
be about fifty years of age, five feet eijght or
nine inches high, dark complexion: the
said boy says he is a Shoamaker, and can
work a litte at the Tailors trade. The
owner is requested to come forward, prove
property ? pay charges, and take him away.

AN ORDINANCE, to amend an Ordi
nance of the Town Council of Camden,
passed the Jb'th day of July, A. D. 1819,
entitled an Ordinance to prevent Hogt
from running at large within the limits
of the Town of t amden.
1st. Be it ordained, and it is
hereby ordained by the authority of
the 'lotcn Council vf Camden , That
wilhiti fifteen days immediately after
the Ratification of tlik* Ordinance, it
shall be tlie duty of vail persons,
who may have plantations or retfide
without the limits of this Ilowii, and
whose ilogs may range, stray into,
or run at large within the liinits of
thk? Town, to render untd the Re
corder of the said Town, * disc rip
lion of the marks of their Hogs> to
entitle them to the benefit of the lattt
clause of the first section of the Or*
dinahce aforsaid; " And the Record*
er is hertoby required to enter all the
marks rendered unto him, under this
Ordinance, . in a book to be kept by
him, for that purpose ; and for eVery
mark so entered^- him, he shall be
entitled to M cents, to he paid to him
l^out of the funds of the Town.

dained by the authority aforesaid.
That it shall be the duty of eveiy
person, w ho lhay at ahy tine here
after be qualified to act as a Consta
ble of the Town of Camden, to car
ry iuto effect the Ordinance aforesaid)
and every ttuch Coustable, who shall
refuse or neglect to carry Into effect the
same,, shall forfeit and pay into U*
Treasury of the said Town, for its
use, the sum of Tt,ret Dollars for
every such refusal or neilect.
3d. And be it further ordained by
the authority aforesaid, Tliat if any
persou shall interrupt, resist, molest,
or abuse an; Constable while law
fully carrying, into effect (be Ordin
ance aforesaid, or nny Jiart of the
rfame, or who shall. reeagBpr forci
bly take from the pound, or out of
the custody of any Constable, any
Hog or Hogs which be may have
taken under the said Ordinance,
every person so offending, shall for
feit pnd pay Fifty Dollars into the
Treasury of this Town, for the use
of the said Town.
Hh. Aid it is hereby further or
dained by the authority afoveeqid,

Wherkas the present mode of

is found to be inconvenient, unequal*
and oppressive upon the Citizens i

the authority of the same, That as
soon after the Ratification of this
Ordinance, as may be and thereafter

once in every three y ears, the Town
Recorder shall, under the direction*
