The State is at present under martial law, and the Proclamation which apj ears in the Courier of July 31st, pur ) mi-ting to be issued by Governor Perry, i ut which may be, like many newspaper it ports, erroneous or unauthorized, can have no influence upon or control over my actions, except I am directed to recognize it by my superior officers, under v hose immediate orders I am serving.? Should the Proclamation referred to above l>e genuine, and its policy sustained at Washington, I have no douut that ihe military authorities in this Department will receive instructions for their irnidance in the effort which the Government is ru iking to restore the State to x i\ il rule. Masonic Funeral.?Dr. Jas. L. Bbadish. Acting Assistant Surgeon, U. S. A., whose residence was Martinsborg, N. V., reported to the U. S. A. Hospital at this j place for duty in April last. Shortly after he returned to the hospital, and about the ! middle of July was taken sick and died 1 in nine days after. The mystic charity of the time-honored fraternity of Masons follows its members everywhere.
