The fire department had to make ^
a run last night about 8 o'clock to '
a negro house near the colored rem- j ^
etery. A lighted lamp fell off thei t)
mantle upon the floor and exploded, j

ed the fall opening at the Lancaster
Department Store Wednesday and
Thursday. Mr. Drlscoll, manager
of the Department Store, states that
tt was the largest and best opening
that he has had since he took

Much talk is going on about the
necessity of our people eating corn
bread. With a record breaking corn
crop the people of the United
States will not starve to death this
year. This does not worry the Lancastrians
one bit. Corn muffins,
corn cakes, corn pone and well old
