A writer recently said that h thought we had long enough bee talking about how we differed fror other denominations and it was tim w> were laying more stress on th things upon which we were agreed I very heartily agree with him. W'h to hear some people talk and rnai Isonie other people's writing yoi would suppose they held a nionopol on the Bible and ail the things thn it teaches and that they were ih greatest of all the saints and nth" people were r.ot even to lie countei along in the same row with them Such ideas to me an- very unpleas ant. I feel like reminding them o / t'.e words ot Christ when he said "Other sheep 1 have which are not o this fold." I think it would he really a re fvoahino 11? I r? vr f/\t? ??o *^ ~ A over our brethren of other denomin atiojis and see if they too do not pos sesS 4aine things to be desired am some tilings really worth while. We all know that in the grea fundamental doctrines of the religioi * of our Cliirst we are agreed with ou pedo-haplicrt kindred. We all knov what they are and it would be useles to take up space repeating them. A | to thp method of baptism, we ex \ pressed our preference when w joined the church. At the same tim I don't think when we come to th Judgment we will be askeu anythln, about how wo were baptized. I cai find nothing in the Bible to the et feet that anything of the kind wil f.c thought of. I do know some o the questions that Bible readln K skeins to me to teach us that we wll be asked but we will all be divide then into only two classes, those wh did and those who didn't and hai tism isn't even referred to. So no' | leaving that question alone let i \ Treat Children's Colds % TVm't dose delicate littlo stomachs wit harmful internal medicines. Vick's "Va] ? S Now by telling some of the thini I like about the Presbyteriai n doesn't mean that we Baptists < not possess any of those things; bi n I am merely stating that I like the n and that is all. n First I very much like the Pre e byterain rule of not allowing a mn e to preach until he is prepared. 1 I. r.n other profession is a man a'lov y ed to work until he knows how e tl copt the ministry and sometimes u I think it is a serious mistake to alio y J a man to enter that without gor t rreparation. I believe that mm ? than anything else accounts for t> rj backward churches we have. :l ministry crippled by ignorance m i. a crippled church. How can it 1 >- otherwise? It is a rare eluireh th: f can rise above its pastor in ideas an >, true vision of how to perform its fu f duty. I hope the day is not far di tant when we Baptists will he moi - tike the Presbyterians in this. * Another thing 1 like about tliei * m the whole hearted way in whir "|they stand by their institutions an ' support them. They are indeed fiberal people and there is somethin 1 said somewhere about the love i 1 God for that kind of giving. r Then 1 like their way of disci] v lining their erring members. At "|the way they get along together i 3 their churches. So far as I cn learn they are a peaceable people i e their church life, locally at least. " Thpre may be other things aboi e them I could like if 1 knew th< ^ better but I'll talk about the Met a odists now. Well, I like the Methodist idea " allowing their feelings to she ^ themselves sometimes. Now I kne K that religion is not just a feelii alone. Yet a religion that cann d be felt is not a true religion. IV ? hap? the old time Methodist shot] *" ing wouldn't suit these times b w sometimes I fear we have gone 1 the other extreme and are hiding o feelings too much. Put about the biggest thing that like about the Methodists Is tha plan of forming a field and puttii 1 a man on that held to be the re ^ nastor of it twid not Just a preach ,a to com? now and then and preach m the folks. Anu I don't believe I a 'be ftnlv Paptict who likes that pi: ^ Rome, of our Pa of 1st8 *; trvlng to do that by hr-.t cettii jg ho consent ol the churches near f [ HE LANCASTER NEWS T DQU OOP TH Dnly comes once ck of Pure Foods is?Currants? Ap ~ THE^VEF at Better Prices l^urLot of Sugai itofcr? bt.T each other locally but their success has not been very great and peril!, hups will never be under that methin od. You see tho Methodists just ut take it for granted it's all right and m no kick is made and so it is taken as a matter of course. And they have been doing it for years. 1J( Then too I like their plan of send[I( ing out their preachers. You see a v preacher is always sure of a church x. and if he doesn't suit the church or I churches or they don't suit him why vv the matter is easily settled when ,,t Conference meets and no hard feelii.gs. and no unpleasant conditions caused by some of the members want-! ^ ing a certain preacher and some not j v anting him. etc.. and so on. Well,1 after all has been said that can be said against it there is much to be ^ said in favor of it. II Now I hope no one will think I am not loyal to my denomination. Can a man's loyalty to his own family be questioned because he can see certain traits or characteristics about in , other families that he likes? ti ^ I hope 1 am a real Baptist and yet I hope and pray that 1 may be a better Christian than 1 am a Bap tist. u ().
