guest was presented with the violet

carried out very effectively the club,

serving by Mrs. Latta Hood.
Mrs. R. C. Brown entertained the
Saturday Bridge Players very pleas-,
antly Saturday morning. Miss Margaret
Moore, who scored highest, won;
the prize, a pair of silk stockings and
the consolation, a box of correspondence
cards was cut by Miss Maude
Moore. After the games Mrs. Brown
served a salad course and tea. Mrs.
J. H. Wltherspoon and Mrs. C. D.
Jones were two visitors who enjoyed
Mrs. Brown's hospitality.
Miss Etta Skipper entertained

were decorated with holly and the
scores were kept on Christmas
cards to which were tied sprigs of

the bridge prize, a pair of lingerie
gins, Mrs. W. R. Thomson the rook
prize, also lingerie pins, and the
honoree was presented with a Shapespeare

Caroline Porter in serving a delicious
salad course.

The welcome service of Rev. R.
W. Keller, the new pastor of the
First Methodist church, held at that
church Sunday evening, was attended
by a very large congregation. After
an able sermon by the new pastor,
the other ministers of the town made
short appropriate addresses of welcome
to their co-laborer.

We are in receipt of an invitation
from Dr. S. W. Pryor to the opening
of his new hospital today. The new
building is to take the place of the
one destroyed by (ire last year. Dr.
Pryor's many friends and former pa
tients in Lancaster will learn with
pleasure that the new hospital is now
complete with every modern convenience.

Dr. and Mrs. S. L. Allen entertained

dinner. This was the second anniversary
of their marriage and the
rooms were bright with Christmas
greens. After dinner, which was
served in a number of courses,
bridge was played until a late hour.
Those who enjoyed the happy occasion
with Dr. and Mrs. Allen were the
letter's sister, Miss Isabel Williams,
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tlnsley, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Kester, Miss Nannie Hill
Moore, Dr. Q. B. Pratt and Mr. M.
P. Johnson.
