We hope tha you will see to it therefore that you public school, your Sunday school I or your church, arrange for som sort of Christmas celebration. II. Here, of course, b is an excellent Held for co-operative t effort on a rather large scale. But ? there is also an excellent opportunity - for local co-operation. If the farm* ers of even one neighborhood will come together, agree to grade then apples, and pack them properly, they f can easily advertise through a sec. retary or business agent and tind r buyers. We know of individual ) farmers who have advertised their t apples with fine results, but we ber lieve in co-operation in advertising r as well as in other things. I VIII. j Now is the time, too. in States I where the legislature meets this wln.[ter, to see or write your members t about whatever legislation you want l enacted or repealed. It is easier to net Mr. Law Maker's attention now ? than it will be after the legislature begins work. And, of course, this is > another place where co-operation > counts. A club of farmers will com. pel consideration of a subject where > an individual will often fail. JUROR EMBRACES HIM. , More or Less Affecting Scenes After Announcement of _ Verdict. Augusta, Ga., Dec. 1.?Thomas E. Watson, author and editor, was aclquitted here today by a jury in federal court of the charges of sending obscene matter through the mails. A verdict of not guilty was brought iln at 10:45 this morning. The jury (had the case since 7 p. m. Thursday. |The court convened shortly after 10 il . . io'clock but it was not until 10:42' jthat the foreman sent word that a' verdict had been'found. When th* Jury filed in Judge Lamdin asked the foreman if a verdict had been reached. The foremaD nodded. The verdict was handed to the clerk and read: "The jury finds the defendant not guilty on all four counts. "O. S. Harnett, Foreman." There was no demonstration in the court, though many of Mr. Watson's friends pressed forward to congratulate him. Watson asked the court if he might leave and the judge indicated that he might depart at once. As the jury passed out Watson shook the hand of each member. One of the jurors. J. H. Koger of Grovetown. Ga., embraced him. As the former defendant passed down the steps and proceeded toward | his hotel he was congratulated by. Former Gov. Joseph M. Ilrown., Judge 11. 1). D.
