As this will be the last issue of the J.ancaster Newa. published under my editorial management. my resignation having been tendered this day, I wish to speak a word of farewell to ?my_ friends in the town and county. I have accepted a position, as commercial secretary, in a flourishing city of one of the Western States, at a salary much larger than this newsg>uper can afford to pay me. . _ I shall always take a keen interest in the future growth of Lancaster, both town and county, and shall treasure, as among my richest posts-ssions, those true and loyal friends of whom I am now taking leave. Lancaster is a good town and a C?oo"' county, and if the people of both, will work together for the good of both, a great era of prosperity is "ahead of them. Having labored conscientiously to tins end. first as your commercial secretary and then as editor of this paper. I know the possi bilities of achievement here. 1 bid you farewell and God-speed in youi every effort to maintain, in truth your inspiring slogan. "Lancastei 1 ? ? ueaua.
