COMIN G?THE BATTLE
CRY OF PEACE
LOWER CAMP ( REEK
In response to an invitation Riven
by Messrs. Reamy and VV. i). Jones,
Jr., the younR people, chaperoned by
Mrs. J. H. Bell and Mrs. Tom Ballard,
went to Reed's spring on the |
river Saturday, where they had a
delightful picni?*. The day was indeed
happily spent by all. Some enjoyed
boat rides on the river, others
amused themselves by climbing the
steep hill sides, while almost everyone
enjoyed the happy sensation of
walking the dam across the river to
Mountain Island. Of course all were
with one accord in one place when i
the bountiful picnic dinner was11
spre-ad. We trulv .-itr* iii-nnt
were merry together as we sat high
on the hill side beside the eool spring
and enjoyed the cool breeze and the
hearty fellowship of all.
We were interested in watching
the work being done on the large
dam that is now being constructed
across the river. Late in the aft< rnoon
we reluctantly turned our
^ faces homeward, sorry to leave the
r place where we had so much wholesome
fun. We all stand ready toj
go again as soon as invited.
Sunday morning found us all in
our places at Sunday School and
preaching service. We have a widea-wake
anil interesting Sunday
School now. The pastor, the Rev.
Mr. Strickland, has worked faithfully
in its behalf. There were twenty-|
four present in the young men and
women's class Sunday, the othe?classes
being equally as well rep re-1
sented.
In order to improve our sinning.
Song services are held once a week.
T.?ast Sunday night we met with Mr.
and Mrs. If. C. Mueller, and sang
many of the good old songs and
learned some pretty new ones.
Miss Stover, the teacher here for
the nast term wlahaa n nvnr.ico iw..
appreciation to the people of the
community for their hearty co-operation
in the school work, and especially
the young men and women for
"the many courtesies shown her. She:
leaves wishing each and all God-i
speed and carries with her the hap-'
py memories of a happy year happi- j
ly spent.
