LOST BY FIRE.
Kershaw Baptist Church and
Parsonage Burned Saturday.
About one -o'clock Saturday
morning fire was discovered in
the Kershaw Baptist church and
before tjhe flames could be arrested,
not only the church but
the adjoining parsonage alsc
was destroyed. The cause of the
fire is not known. There had beer
no service in the church since
the mid-week prayer meeting
last Wednesday night. Rev. J
P. Tucker of Springfield, Ky., is
the new,pastor of this church,
having only recently come tc
Kershaw. The amount of insurance
on the church was $4,00C
and on the parsonage $1,00(1
and the value of the two buildings
was about $10,000.
After the Sunday morning service
in the public hall an enthusiastic
meeting of the congregation
was held and a committee
appointed to begin at once to
solicit funds for the erection of
a new brick church and a parsonage.
