future of Lancaster as better
railway connections and an interurban
system traversing a
section of country in need of
such facilities would be a great
asset to this town. The proposition
should be considered.
The interurban electric railwafliias
helped along the development
of other sections and
-would help Lancaster county as
well.

The annual visitation of Bishop
William A. Guerry is an
event of interest to the people
of Lancaster irrespective of denominations,
and Bishop Guerry
is assured of a cordial welcome
here. The bishop of the Episcopal
diocese of South Carolina
is a man of intellectual strength
and vision. His discourse carries
conviction for his sympathies
are broad and his logic is clear.
Bishop Guerry is a pleasing
speaker. He always has a message
well worth the hearing, delivered
with earnestness and
power. Our people will enjoy an
opportunity of hearing Bishop
Guerry next Sunday evening.

Hill Enacted to Abolish Office
of County Supervsior?
Other Matters Affecting
the County.
Editor of The News:
1 am enclosing a copy of the j
bill which the Lancaster delega-:
tion has put thru to abolish the
office of County Supervisor.
Briefly stated, the law provides
that the office of County Supervisor
shall be abolished and a
board of five county.commissioners
be appointed with long terms
of two to six years so that the
term of not more than one shall
expire in any one year. This law
will take effect at the end of the
terms of the present county
supervisor and county commissioners.
We believe that this
will take the business management
of the county's affairs out I
of politics and put it on a firm
business basis.
The delegation recommended
the following men for the County
Board of Registration: W. G.
A. Porter, W. A. Caskev, and R.
J. Flynn.
We have provided that the
magistrate of Gills Creek townhip
shall have concurrent jurisdidction
with the magistrate of
Cane Creek townshin: and we
have provided that the constables
be required to convey to
the county chaintrang, directly
after conviction, all persons sentenced
thereto by the magistrates
respective1; served by !
them.
We have provided two additional
voting precincts, one at
Tabernacle school house and one
at Midway school house.
The county supply bill ho*
passed the House and been sent
to the Senate. For Lancaster
county we have been able to reduce
the tax levy about one-half
trull, notwithstanding the fact
that we have given the road and
