Literary Society held a public
meeting Friday night, the first of the
present, session, at which an excellent
program was rendered.
Mr. J. W. Crenshaw left Friday for
City Point. Va.. where he will resume
work at the DuPont Powder
Works.
"Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Caskey came
from Kershaw Sunday to spend the
day with their parents here.
Mrs. C. B. Mobley of Columbia will
be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. \V. C.

The Oakhurst school opened Monday
with Miss Annie Wilson of Lancaster
as principal and Miss Onie
Mackey, assistant.
Mr. Shala Mobley was the guest
last week of his sister, Mrs. Horace
Earle, at Hopkins. He also visited
Columbia while on the trip.
Master Willie Bruce Williams celebrated
his birthday Saturday by entertaining
a number of his little
friends, all of whom greatly enjoyed
the afternoon.

Whereas, one-third of the freeholders
and one-third of the electors
of the age of 21 years, residing in
Camp Creek school district, No. lit,
have petitioned the county board of
education to order an election to determine
whether or not the present
tax of 4 mills shall be retained on all
real and personal property for school
purposes.
We hereby order said election to
be held by the trustees in said Camp
Creek school district. No. 15, on Friday,
October 22nd, at S. P. Roberts'
gin house.
At which election only such electors
as return real or personal property
for taxation and exhibit their
tax receipts and registration certificates
shall be allowed to vote.
The opening and closing hours
shall be the same as in all general
