Very Low.
A VERY SAD CASE, INDEED.
Young Man Was Serving Sentence of
Fifteen Months.?Was led Astray
by Bad Company.
Columbia. Sept. 14.?Governor
Manning yesterday granted a parole
during good behavior, to Robert
Kennells, a young white man convicted
at the October, 1914, term of
court in Greenwood county, before
Judge Sease, and sentenced to serve
fifteen months on the public works
of Greenwood county. This is the
same case in whcih the governor, on

for ten days for the purpose of allowing
the prisoner to visit his
mother, who was at the time very ill.
The prisoner returned to the chaingang
at the expiration of the ten J'
days, and is reported to have been a
model prisoner.
Judge Sease, who presided at the (
trial, recommended that the sentence

be commuted to ten months; the ^
prosecuting attorney. Solicitor R. A.
Cooper, also requested that the pris- ^
oner be paroled. Several letters
have been received by the governor {
in the case; and the board of pardons
unanimously recommended f
that the sentence be commuted. In
addition to this the governor yesterday
received the following letter
from Dr. John W. Williams of Honen

"Wish to state that Mrs. Kennells (
is gradually growing weaker every
day and before many days have gone ''

gratefully appreciated to all parties
concerned."
