The tidings of the death of Rev
Robert Lee Holroyd. presiding eldei

Federation Scholarship*.
The South Carolina Federation
j of Women's Clubs has three other
scholarships vacant at present. One
to Lander College, one to Coker College
and one to the Confederate
Home College at ?Tharleston. All
girls wishing to stand for Coker will
apply at once to Samuel W. Garrett,
dean of Coker College, and necessary
arrangements will be made for exi
amlnations. Those ror Lander will
write to Dr. John O. Wilson, Lake
I juualuska, N. C. Applicants for this
, scholarship must be descendants of
' Confederate veterans. The same
course is left open for applicants to
' Confederate Home College. The
Federation never accepts an applioa!

News was received here last week
! of the death in Rutherford ton, N. C.,
of Mr. W. L. Payeeur, and his remains
were Interred last Monday In
Llncolnton, N. C. Mr. Payseur was
about fifty years of age. He is survived
by a wife, a child and several
brothers, two of whom, Messrs. L. C.
and George F. Payseur, live in Lanmatser.
