Penny on Main street. Two irery helpful papers were read, one jy Mrs. Walter M Stevens, the other [?y Mrs. W. C. Dees. Mrs W. B. Taylor also gave some valuable hints sained from her successful experience in the teaching of children. A lovel contest "The Family Tree" afforded much amusement. The prize vhich several guests cut, was a dainty handmade work apron, awarded to Mrs. W. D. Craig. After this contest, the hostess served a delicious naiad course, followed by fruit cake ind chocolate cake and cocoa. * * Mrs. A. If. Roberts of the Pleasant Plain section died at his home Sat- " urday nicht Nov. 21st after a lin jeering illness. Mr. Roberts was 81 years old and served in the Confod- ' erate war. He enlisted with ("apt. Frank Clyburn 12th rgiment, Co. E. and served faithfully. He was onlv | wounded once, during the four years j After the surrender Mr. Roberts returnd home and spent the remainder I of his days on his farm. Mr. Roberts was well known throughout the country and was liked by all who came in contact with him. He held j the magistrate's office of Flat Creek townsh'p for 6 years and served, faithfully. Mr. Roberts was married to M1"1* Mahaley Faulkenberry. who! predeceased hln in April of this year, i Mr Roberts leavos the following! children, vix: Reese Roberts of Rock Hill, L. A. and W. E. Roberts of this county, Mrs Emma Horton, Mrs. C. F. Phillips and Mrs. W. A. Hln son all of this county. His remains were Interred at Pleasant Plain churchyard Sunday afternoon at 3 o'colck after funeral services by his pastor, Rev. T. A. Dabney. Crlv'g, presi1ent; Mrs. J. Boyd Craig, vice presilent; Mrs. J. Clark Uobinson, secretary and treasurer. Program committee, Misses Cornelia Dye and Annette Craig, was appointed by the president.
