Cards received In Lancaster last week tell of a wedding in Atlanta, which will be of interest to a number of our people, that of Miss Martha Boynton and Dr Newton Craig, son of Mrs. J. N. Craig of Atlanta. The late Itev. J. N. Craig, D. D., was formerly pastor of the Lancaster Presbyterian church and the groom was bom in Lancaster during his fatner's pastorate here. The Atlanta Constltotfon gave the following announcement of Dr. Craig's marriage: . "Mrs. Charles E. Boynton announces that the marriage of her daughter, Martha Askew, to Dr. Newton Craig took place July 14, at home. No cards. The prominence of Miss Uoynton and Dr. Craig renders the news of their marriage of interest not only in Georgia, but in South Carolina, Dr. Craig's native state, and in Mississippi and Baltimore, where he subsequently resided. She is Intelligent, cultured and charming, daughter of the late Charles E. Hoynton, a distinguished pioneer citizen. Dr. Craig is the son of the late Dr. J. N. Craig, one of the most scholarly of the Presbyterian clergy in the South of his day. By Inheritance and by study and experience he is well equipped for the prefossion he has chosen, and in which lie is brilliantly achieving." Dr. Craig is now one of the foremost surgeons of the South. The Atlanta Georgians also gives the following description of the Interesting ceremony: "The marriage of Miss Martha Boynton and Dr. Newton Craig took place Tuesday evening, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Charles E. Boynton, and while the utmost simplicity marked the event, a broad social interest was centered in the marriage of these two popular young people. The list of guests Included the large family connections and the close personal friends of the couple. The happiest spirit of Informality marked the affair. "The house was decorated with Raster lilies, pink gladioli and throughout In quantities of greenery Shasta daisies. For the ceremony, the bride and bridegroom stood before an Improvised altar of greenery. Handsome palms extended to the ceiling, and, interspersed amid the greenery, were great clusters of Faster lillies. In the hall the alcove was outlined with Shasta daisies and there the bride's book was kept. "In the living room the mantel was banked with pink gladioli, the same stately flowers appearing in the dining room, on mantel and buffet. Punch was served In the dining room and a buffet supper was ^ served during the evening. if "For the ceremony, which was impressively performed by Bishop Warren Candler, the bride descended the stairs with her mother and was met at the improvised altar by the bridegroom and his best man, E. E. Reese. "The bride was beautifully gownoH in Hlmv lanu ik* mm \ +4 of I two deep ruffles and the corsage of! the shine l?qe edged with tiny ruffles of chiffon and finished with a deep girdle -of white, taffeta. The conventional'.' wedding veil and bridal bouquet were omitted, the bride having expressed a desire for the utmost simplicity in the detail* oX her wedding. y Mrs. Hoynton wore black chiffon and lace, with a corsage bouquet <Vf valley lilies. "A number of guests from a distance v attended the wedding and many ^andsome gifts expressed the good Wishes,.of ? host of friends, some of tbepa in distant cities, the bride being one of the most widely traveled afid cultured young woman of the-city. "Dr.- Craig is a prominent physician and has many, friends here as well as in Bouth Carolina, his native state.
