' *" This conference Is usually largely attended and Is helpful to the colored people. Ahont a Negro and a Mule. Rural Policeman W. J. Williams and Chief of Police W. H. Bell captared Henry Starnes, colored, Tuesday morning in town and lodged him In Jail. Starnes is wanted in North Carolina for stealing * mule and a buggy last Christmas, four miles above Monroe. N. C. The negro came on down Into this state and has been eluding the officer* ever since. On Sunday night he stole $10 and IX pints of liquor near White Bluff and made for Lancaster. The officers were on the lookout for him. He < will be returned to the North Carolina authorities. Head In Reports.
