6 Disgraceful Scene. Two Representatives Almost Come to Blows on Floor While House is in Session ?One Uses Profanity. Wp'hington, March 27?Through a misunderstanding; Representative Byrd,(Miss)and Representative Fordnev fMick^ floor of tho almost came to blows on the house today while the latter was making a speech on the tariff. Mr. Fordney, in response to numerous questions relative to the existence ot a lumber trust, was contending that no combination of lumber manufacturers exists. Mr. I'yrcl asked if it was not true that a combination exists among the retail dealers of Mississippi, to which Mr. Fordney's firm, which is operating in that State, was a party. Mr. Ryrd added that he knew whereof he spoke when he charged the existence of such a combination. ' The gentleman doesn't know a damned thing about it," shouted Mr. Fordney irritably. Immediately Mr. Byrd made his way toward Mr. Fordney, but several Democratic members stopped him before he could reach the former. Mr. Fordney immediately apologized to the house for the profanity and said that it he had offended the gentleman irom Mississippi he most humbly apologized. lie aided, however, that Mr. Byrd could not say ihat his firm was a member of a lumber trust. Mr. Byrd theu explained that it was not hi6 intention to muke such a charge, and the incident was closed. New Fire Insurance Company Organized in this State?Col. Springs One of Directors.
