Jones's farms east of town, died Satur
day. He is said to have been 110 years
old.
Dr. Thomas Itoyd Meacham, a pro
minent physician of Fort Mill, died al
his home in that town Sunday morning

Mr. William Mcllwain, son of Mr

The government's cotton ginning re
port issued Monday shows a total o
0,283,780 bales ginned up to the 18th in

ginned for 1007. an increase of 1,803,52".

Nancy Harris, a full breed Indian ol
the Catawba tribe, died at the Indian
reservation, near this city, Thursday,
(let. 15th. Nancy before her death,
drew a Confederate pension from the
government. She was the wife of John
Harris and the mother of Ben Harris.?

While coming to town Saturday Mr,
James Bennett, of the Heath Springs
section, narrowly escaped being shot.
When about five miles south of here,
some unknown party tired presumably
at a rabbit being chased by dogs, but a
number of the shot struck Mr. Bennett's
buggy.
Miss l-'.dna Sitgreaves, of the graded
schools' corps of teachers, has been
quite sick for the past few days, suffering
from an attack of appendicitis. Miss
Julia (iregory is filling her position in

An explosion of a cylinder in the dye
house of the Victoria Mills Friday afternoon
