Sam Mitchell, a worthy colored
man of West Wateree, was killed
by lightning on the 29th inst.
His mule was also killed at the
same time. lie was passing by
a small tree in his lot when tho
fatal stroke came. He leaves a

Mrs.Amanda Byors, a relative
of Mrs. R. E. Allison of this
place, died a few days ago at
the home of her son, Mr. .John
A. Byers, near Sharon, in Yoik
Co. She was the widow of the

by her sou and two daughters.
