risk it. Before getting across
however, the mule ho was riding
completely disappeared with
the exception ol its ears, having
plunged into a hole washed out
by the raging waters. Manag
ing to retain his seat \lr. Vaughn
held the mule up by the bridle
as best lie could. Finally getting
out of the creek lie discovered
that the animal?his best
mule?had been badly crippled,
and it is still unable to walk except
on three legs.
